Favorite School Memory For some reason two events that stand out to me both occurred before the Christmas con of I think our senior year. One was hearing the choir singing the words to "O Holy Night" as I walked down the hallway with Clarice Wilsey. The other was putting on the wings of the angel costume that I was selected to wear for a tableaux at the con. The wings measured about 6" tall and were completely covered with white feathers. About Me The year after I graduated from college, I lived, worked, and surfed in Hawaii. After that, I traveled around the U.S for a year, and later traveled to Europe a few times, went to Puerto Rico with a boyfriend from there, and did volunteer work in Mexico and Costa Rica. One day I'd like to return to the latter, espec-ially a beautiful black sands beach there. I'd also like ot go to a little town in southern Germany where my great-grand-parents came from. In 1978 I had the opportunity to go on a Biblical Archeology trip to Greece, Italy, Israel, the Red Sea and the Sinai--the latter of which was espcially memorable. 1991 I was selected as one of 50 teachers in the nation to go to Poland and Israel to learn about the Holocaust--some-thing which changed my life in several significant ways. Volunteer work over the years has involved teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school, work with kids on the streets, providing individualized Christmas presents for 300 poor kids in Spokane one winter, and working with my students to send many kinds of things to 700 orphans in Romania. From 2000 to the beginning of 2007, I helped take care of my elderly mom who used to be one of the main secretaries at LC and who passed away at the age of 97 two years ago today, August 16. That was a hard year; three significant people in my life died in 6 months. Since then I've retir...(read more)
