About With profound sadness and a deep sense of loss, the family of Cathie Y. Hannaford announces her peaceful passing on the 7th of July, 2024, in Spokane, Washington. Born on the 14th of November, 1942, in the very same city, Cathie's life of 81 well-lived years came full circle as she was called to her heavenly home.

A 1960 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, Cathie embarked on a career with Pacific NW Bell in Spokane and then Seattle, before dedicating her existence to the noble calling of motherhood. Her professional journey resumed in the insurance sector in 1980, until retirement in 2007 after nearly three decades of diligent service.

Cathie's personal life was graced with the love and support of family and friends. United in marriage to Robert Hannaford in 1963, they celebrated the birth of their daughter in 1969 and later, sadly experienced the dissolusion of their union in 1979. A beacon of hope and resilience, Cathie returned to Spokane to draw strength from her family, finding solace in the joy of her grandson's arrival in 1993.

Triumphing over cancer in 2011, Cathie's indomitable spirit shone brightly, serving as a source of inspiration to all. In the sunset years of her life, she bravely faced the challenges of vascular dementia, yet her humor remained mostly intact.

A devout member of the First Free Methodist Church, Cathie's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She shared her passion for baking, generosity of spirit, and love for God through her involvement in church activities.

Cathie's days were enriched by her many interests, including her dedication to her garden club, the literary joy of reading, the thrill of bunco games, occasional travel and her beloved annual visits with her lifelong friend Patty. Her giving spirit extended to volunteering for the Salvation Army and her church, as well as supporting numerous charitable causes.

Her life shall be celebrated by her loving daughter, Andrea (Rob); adored grandson, Tyler Phelps; dear brothers, David (Nancy) Michaels and Larry (Debbie) Michaels; and a cherished network of nieces and nephews. Cathie joins in eternal rest her parents, Beatrice and Laurence Michaels; and her sister, Charon Melchor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside services at Fairmont Memorial Park, on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Cathie's memory be directed to the First Free Methodist Church of Spokane, a testament to her faithful devotion and charitable spirit. Her legacy of love, dignity, and grace will forever be imprinted in the hearts of those she touched.
