About Richard Frank Brown, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on the 25th of May, 2024 at his home in Green Valley, Arizona, at the age of 79. He was born on the 17th of July, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, to the late Frank and Beatrice Brown.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 58 years, Peggy, and his children: Valerie Parrish (Jerry), Rich Brown (Christy), and Lori Brown. He is also survived by his siblings: Bob Brown, Marilyn Mattick, and Sharon Green. He was extremely proud of his nine grandchildren and always wanted updates on their lives.

Richard lived in the Spokane, Washington, area for most of his life, attending St. Augustine's School for grades 1-8, followed by Lewis & Clark High School. He attended Eastern Washington University, Notre Dame College (Canada), Gonzaga University, and Whitworth College and earned a master's degree in counseling. He was a dedicated and well-known teacher and school counselor in Spokane. His passion was helping students and families in need.

He was a talented carpenter and spent a great deal of time building friends' outdoor decks and remodeling homes over the years. His greatest accomplishments were building a guitar and a home, almost single-handedly, on Silver Lake. After he retired, Richard started mastering the game of bridge and went on to play in bridge tournaments and teach classes up until his death.

Richard was a devout sports enthusiast and spent a great deal of time watching his favorite professional and college sports teams, especially University of Washington and Washington State University. As soon as a grandchild was admitted into a college, he became a new fan of their football and basketball teams. Richard and Peggy enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and going on cruises.

A Celebration of Life will be held in September in Spokane. Donations in Richard's honor may be made to your local Boys & Girls Club.
