About | TENOLD, Robert Gordon "Bob" A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on December 15th with loved ones by his side. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Kozlovich, his daughters Tana Tenold (Andy Gutman) and Karena Fleming (Baird Fleming), and grand-children Jake, Adam, Alice and Téa. He was also loved by his brothers Jack, Greg, and Tyrus Tenold and their families; and Debbie's extended family including Shannon, Justin, Jason, Dakota, Cameron, and Wesley; and so many friends whom he made feel like family. Bob fell in love twice, first with Penelope, the mother of his children, wife of 38 years; and then with Debbie, with whom he spent the last 12 wonderful years, dancing and traveling. Born on January 13, 1942 in Bremerton WA to parents John Clarence Tenold and Ruth Chastek Tenold, his family moved soon after to Spokane, where he went to Hutton Elementary and Lewis and Clark High school, graduating in 1960. Bob continued his studies at Whitman College and Columbia University in New York where he earned a degree as a Professional Engineer in Metallurgy. Just out of college, he worked a short time in Seattle at Boeing. He then moved back home to work at Spokane Industries, the family business. When he wasn't managing the pouring of steel at Spokane Industries, he was pouring his heart and soul into his favorite hobbies: tennis, golf and sailing. Bob enjoyed golfing and playing tennis in Hawaii, and sailing his Hobie Cat on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Bob was an enthusiast of all things Science and delighted in learning and discussing all aspects of the world: from philosophy to chemistry, entomology to astronomy. Additionally, he was a music aficionado, and avidly played the saxophone and clarinet. Bob adored Dixieland music. In high school he was in a band called the Frantic Five. Later he sang baritone in a Barbershop Quartet. Even with two left feet, he loved to ballroom dance with Debbie. Bob was involved in Rotary; and was on the board of Empire Health Services, Spokane Racquet Club and the Spokane Steel Founders Society for numerous years. Bob would be honored by any memorial donations to the Special Olympics Washington: 1809 7th Ave, Suite 1509, Seattle, WA 98101-4400. Phone: 1 (800) 380-3071. Please come share your stories and celebrate his life at the memorial open house at the Spokane City Club's library on Friday, December 28th anytime between 4PM to 7PM.
