Date of Passing Aug 04, 2023
About On August 4, 2023, we lost a very special man, my best friend, my husband of forty-plus years, Jim Stewart. Jim was born in Spokane, WA, on July 31, 1942. Graduated from Lewis and Clark High School class of 1960. Jim spent his entire life in the Spokane area working for his stepfather, Frank Gurney. In 1991 he became half-owner of the company and was there until his retirement in 2003 at which time he was diagnosed with cancer. Jim fought a long, hard painful battle and did so with dignity and a positive attitude. In his retirement, he enjoyed boating on the lake and so loved his favorite place, his home. He also spent much time in his beloved yard and garden. Jim was preceded in death by his father Arlie Stewart, and his mother and stepfather Helen and Frank Gurney. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth at the home, daughter Stacey Stewart, Glendale, AZ. Brother Tom Stewart, stepbrother Fred Gurney (Dottie), two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Jim was a kind gentle man and the hardest-working man I have ever known. He would say "I did it my way!" Jim will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you Hospice of Spokane for your wonderful care. Gone from my sight but never from my memories
