About HUBBARD, Wallis D. "Wally" "Butch" (Age 79) Wally Hubbard passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021 with his family by his side. He was born in Spokane, Washington on February 3, 1942. Wally graduated from EWU with a BA degree in Planning and a 2nd Lieutenant's commission. The Army sent him to Germany where he served as Commander of a Tank Company and left the Army as a Captain. He served as project manager for several architectural firms. Wally was appointed to the position of Spokane County Planning Director, a position he held for over 15 years. He also worked with several Native American Tribes as their planning and development director, including the Blackfeet Tribe in Montana, CEO for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's Development Corporation, and the Executive Director of the Kalispell Tribe of Indians Community Planning and Development. Wally was a gentle giant and was loved and respected by so many, both professionally and personally. He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Jan, his wife of 27 years and favorite dance partner. Wally and Jan could really tear up the dance floor! They shared the love of their blended family, Wally's two children Brian Hubbard (Aimee), daughter Amy Doneen (Daren), both of Spokane, and Jan's son Mark Dreyer (Marie), Richmond, VA, his sister Zoann Attwood, Helena, MT, nephew Kirk Attwood and niece Brenda Armstrong. Wally was the very proud and loving grandpa of eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Due to Covid, the family is holding a private service with family and limited invited guests on Thursday, May 20. A celebration of Wally's life will be held sometime this fall providing restrictions are lifted. Of course, there will be dancing. Another notice will be posted. Wally was a wonderful, kind and considerate man who will be missed by all who loved him.
