There is no other way I could have climbed Mt Fuji (once, a wise man will do so once only a fool would climb it twice which can't be said for some of my shipmates who are workout fanatics). Let's 2 years stationed on the USS Independence which was home ported in Yokosucka Japan and then2 years in Sigonella Sicily (Italy), Then back to Norfolk Virginia for 2 more duty stations. I got to 21 different countries including 3 tours in the Persian Gulf, however I got out just before what I call "Idiot Blue Bloods second holy crusade" some call it the second Iraq war. I played an important role in how the Navy incorporated computers into normal routine (as was the case in the rest of the world of the 90's) by being the Navy equivalent of "help desk." For the record my final Rate/rank is IT1 (SW)/E-6 First Class Petty Officer. Although I still consider myself a Berkley Boy I am proud of my service.
