| About Me | I was born in Herrin, Illinois to the greatest mother in the world. My father whom I didn't know until I was 17 years old lived just a short drive from me most of my first 15 years of my life in Carbondale. James W. Walker is my biological father but was never there for me and from what I was told was not that great a father to my siblings either. While I lived in Herrin for my first 15 years, my heart was always in Texas, my aunt & uncle and my cousins lived in Arlington and that was where I always wanted to live. When I finally got to move to Arlington the joy of being in Texas was short lived. Less than a month after arriving in Arlington I was hit with the worst news a 15 year old could receive in my mind, my mother had lung cancer and would have to endear a very tough surgery and while she tried to beat this horrible sickness, and Dec. 4th, 1987, my mother went to be with our lord. I was thankful to have so many great friends at Lamar High School that supported me and my cousins through this tough time. I really don't know how I made it through those days, weeks, and months. After my mother passed away, I pretty much gave up on school, and lost my faith in god to lead me. I struggled to just get through my senior year and graduate, but with the help of my teachers and few good friends I made it. My aunt and uncle had talked since the day after my mother died about adopting me and giving me a family. The only problem was if they did adopt me then my birth certificate would be altered and my aunt was so worried that would have hurt my mother. While I wish they had actually adopted me and given me the last name of Anderson, I am and always will be proud to be Gaynell Comer's son. My freshman year in college I tried to do well and work to support myself but it got to be too much, so I joined the US Navy and I spent four great years in the Navy from 1989 to 1993, serving both during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I married my wife Annmarie, April 6, 1991 and while we have had many ups and downs I really believe she is my soul mate. She has given me three of the greatest kids in the world. Our two oldest children have epilepsy and delayed speech issues and our youngest has delayed speech issues as well. They all three are heavily involved with Special Olympics and I couldn't be more proud as a parent. Through everything they go through each and every day they still smile and love life like nothing is or was wrong. They truly are my inspiration. My cousins turned brothers in 1987, are great and I love them all very much. Kevin, Brent, Mark & Mike all mean the world to me. My best friend Christopher Shane McNiel and I have run together since my senior year in high school, and he and I went to college with my wife.
