Cubie passed away on August 21, 2005 from a aorta disection. He left behind 2 children. He actually graduated from Eastern Hills High School but went to Lamar until his Sr. year. He spent the last 10 years of his life in sales. He is dealy missed by his parents, Linda and Robert Nickel of Arlington, Cubie Sr. and Joyce Ward of Dallas, brother Chris Ward of Atlanta (1984 graduate) and sister Lauri Ward Keith (1986 graduate)

Gary Wayne Briggs, 54, passed away Sunday, June 11th, 2017, near his home in Rio Vista. Memorial: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 24th, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 2045 SE Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington 76018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America. Gary was born March 26, 1963, in Fort Worth to Clarence and Clara Briggs. He grew up in Arlington, graduating from Lamar High School in 1981. For over two decades, he selflessly dedicated his time in the Arlington community mentoring and guiding countless young people as both a Youth Soccer coach and Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts for Troops 591, 399 and Venture Crew 1993. Gary was employed for 35 years at Pat Murphy's Auto Shop as a Master Mechanic and General Manager. Gary is predeceased by his mother, Clara Briggs, and older brother, Dave Briggs. Survivors: Wife of 22 years, Jan Briggs of Rio Vista; father, Clarence Briggs of Arlington; children, Dylan Briggs of Arlington, Aycee Briggs of Rio Vista, Bobby Warren and his wife Kassy of Taylor, and Staci Sullivan of Rio Vista; grandchildren, Joshua Briggs of Arlington, Max and Charlotte Warren of Taylor: sister, Cheryl Briggs and her husband Joey Lankford of Fort Worth: nieces, Sharise Briggs and her husband Chris Sleasman of Georgetown, Indiana and Stephanie Martin and her husband Dan of Columbus, Ohio; several cousins and numerous extended family and friends.

Greg was an LHS swimmer and played the trumpet in the band. He grad from UTA in 1990 after serving in the USN as a Quarter Master on the USS Macdonough (DDG-39).
He moved to FL in 1993, starting the band Xchange in Tampa. He was a life long Lutheran, a member of The Teddy Roosevelt Rough Riders, & Masonic Lodge -Brandon. He was SCUBA certified, and toured the country with his Harley group. He was an organ donator and 3 lives were blessed by his gift. His FL funeral was Oct. 1st in Riverview, with military honors and the TX memorial service was Oct. 12th in Mansfield, TX at St. John Lutheran Church. His sister, Brenda Schneider Hantsche (LHS 77) lives in Sherman and his kid brother, Wade Schneider (LHS 83) lives in Mansfield. Greg can be seen and heard on the band's Facebook page-website.
