James (Jim) Morrell

Navy, 20+ Years
I enlisted in the Naval Reserve as a Seaman Recruit in 1967. After I graduated from WWSC I attended OCS and was commissioned as an Ensign. After a Viet Nam tour, assignment on 7 ships and Graduate School, I was selected for command of my own ship which I brought to the Daffodil Festival in 1991. I was promoted to Captain and took command of Destroyer Squadron ONE which consisted of 7 Guided Missile Frigates. I retired in 2000 and confine my sea duty to fishing boats!

Bob served in Viet Nam and currently is being treated for Lymphoma (due to agent orange). He was on the Lakes track team and has fond memories of his time at Lakes. His chemo is working and currently he is in remission.
