Proudly defended The Commonwealth of Kentucky with Vietnamese comrades in my M113A1 Armored Personnel Carrier with the 194th Armored Brigade, C/58th Inf.-> changed name to "F" Troop 2/6th Cavalry for about a fortnight before they realized what they had done-> "F" Company 2/6th Cavalry & then kept "The Hurt Locker" closed in the Buckeye State & West 'By Golly' Virginia as Explosive Ordnance Disposal with 71st EOD Detachment at Lockbourne/Rickenbacker AFB in Columbus, OH. At one time assisted the US Secret Service for a VIP (Under-Secretary of Polish Communist Party) visit to a coal mine in Belmont County, Ohio??? "Fire in the Hole"! Very Trippy & Far Out. Peace out from the Left Coast, Cali

Most all was reserve time. 1963-1969 (HM2), a short (?) break in service, then reaffiliated in 1986 thru 2005 retiring as SKCS. Excellent decision to get back in for the retirement, etc.

upon completion of my internship at Northwestern University medical school is was drafted into the US Army Medical Corps. My first duty station was in Colorado Springs, I served in Vietnam one year as a Battalion Surgeon, 326 Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division in Hue, Vietnam. I was never assigned to a hospital but volunteered in orphanages, built health stations and taught public health to volunteer village health workers. I returned to the US in March 1972 to resume my medical training as a urologist. I returned to VN in 1988 to help in the reconstruction from 1988-2000.

Attended Navy Nuclear Power School and upon completion served onboard the USS Archerfish, SSN 678, a nuclear powered submarine. After being discharged from the Navy I joined the Army Reserve where I currently serve in the JAG Corps.

I enlisted in the Army on 7 February 1969 and went to Basic Training at Fort Campbell, Ky, on to Fort Gordon, GA for Advanced Training in Avionics Radio and Repair all dealing with Helicopter and Aircraft Communication. Further assigned to Fort Bragg, N.C. and fron there to the 201st Avn Co in Vietnam were I recieved a Bronze Star. After Vietnam I was assigned back to Fort Bragg and on 28 Jan 1978 I left service.

Our Kettering Fairmont High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done!
