Paulette Jones
Class of 1976
Paulette Jones, born and nurtured in the city of New Orleans, during the turbulent 1960’s where she attended the public school system, John Mcdonogh High School. It wasn’t until she was an adult that she realized she had a gift; the gift of storytelling. After reading several novels written by African American authors, a desire was unlocked within her and visions soon followed. Not knowing what to do with the visions, she literally put pen to paper and emerged an author. At the completion of her quest, she had written her first novel; HerStory:Revelations. At that point, she wasn't sure what to do with the writing, so she put them in hiatuses and got on with the days.In 2005, her life changed forever, KATRINA. Because of the storm, she found herself directionless. It took her two years to return to her home, but another five years for her city to feel like home again. Because of her experiences, she was forced to think about what she wanted to do with her life. In 2009 she embarked on a new career that would take her back to a possibility that she had almost forgotten, and if not for Hurricane Katrina she may not have remembered. In 2010,HerStory: Revelations, followed by, Girls’ Day Out: The Adventure, Her First Sleepover, Katrina: One Set of Footprints, ABC On The Streets of New Orleans, The Brass Band Gig, and Hidden Emotions: Family Ties and Family Lies. She is now working on her eighth book TheirStory: The Beginning.
