About Me	I went to MTSU, where I served as editor of the school newspaper. I also continued to work for The Standard Banner in Jefferson City every summer and winter break when I was home from college. I was hired full time after I graduated from MTSU in December 1999. While working there, I helped revive the Patriot Press at JCHS. I married Jimmy Sherrod, a fellow Class of '95 alumnus, in October 2000. We lived in Jefferson City until July 2003, when we moved to Washington, D.C., for me to attend graduate school at American University. Meanwhile, Jimmy worked as the director of youth ministries for Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church in D.C., the "National Church of United Methodism." After I earned my Master's in the 12-month program at AU, I took a job as a press secretary for a Democratic congressman and worked on Capitol Hill. However, when my sister announced she and her husband, fellow Class of '95 alumnus Chuck Hakim, were expecting their first child, Jimmy and I decided to move home to be closer to our families. I started my new job as state and county government reporter for The Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn., in January 2005.
