Found in downtown Morgantown on High St. Date found was 2/12/2019 in front of the comic book store Gary's Comics and more on the sidewalk. I work there. My name is Drew Mayer. The owner of the ring can stop by to pick it up if they like or maybe you guys can contact the owner and we can figure out a way for me to get it to them. James Wood High School Class of '68
Lost at Parris Island, SC Marine Corp. Training Center (Boot Camp) around April 16, 1969 outside of the Mess Hall. After scrubbing my food tray clean in a trash can full of soapy water, I was attempting to shake my hands dry while standing in formation when my Class Ring slipped off my finger and fell through a small cast iron storm drain cover. As I was attempting to retrieve the ring, the Drill Instructor ordered me back into formation and the platoon of recruits marched back to the barracks. Fearing that it was about to rain and the ring would be lost forever, I told the head Drill Instructor what had happened and he allowed me to go back to the mess hall later that night (with two MP's) to look for the ring. When I got to the storm drain and lifted up the cast iron grate, the ring, which had been clearly visible earlier, was gone. I assumed that either someone else saw the ring and retrieved it, or the mess hall crew had emptied the trash can full of soapy water down the storm drain and washed my class ring away. This happened on my first day of Basic Training, and was the least of my concerns for the next six weeks at Parris Island. That was almost 50 years ago, but if someone did find my ring, I would appreciate having it returned.
James Wood High School Class of '68
Lost my 1961 JWHS senior ring (gold, blue sapphire with a gold filled old English 'B' engraved into the stone, initials JMB inside) in a flight crew dressing room at Naval Air Station Norfolk sometime in the spring of 1968. I know, a very slim chance of recovery after 50 years.
Lost my James Wood High School senior class ring (Class of 1968-initials "RRC" )outside a mess hall at Parris Island, SC. It fell into a drainage ditch through an iron grate, and although I could see it, I wasn't allowed to break formation and reach down to get it.
