About Me	FIrst, I worked as a public relations officer for a shipping company in the New York area; after 7 years there, I quit because I got tired of the job. I eventually got a job as a Student Services Director at UT-Pan Am Brownsville, then decided to get my Master's Degree in English and taught both high school and university level English. In 1998, I went to Texas Tech to get my PhD in English, returned to Brownsville in 2003, where I was hired by UTB/TSC to teach English. I am now an Assistant Professor and the Chair of the English Graduate Program at UTB/TSC. I have also published scholarly and creative works and presented at academic conferences worldwide. As a professor, I have received several awards: Who's Who among American's Teachers (2005, 2006), UTB/TSC Faculty recognitions awards (2005, 2006), Chancellor's Council Outstanding Teaching Excellence Award nominee (2007).
