During 1943 after boot camp I was sent to be trained in maintaing deseil engines to become a Motor Machinest Mate. After completion of training I received my rank as MoMM3/c. I was later sent to Miami Beach Fla. to train and retreive trial torpedoes that were launched from PT Boats.at a target ship. I was later called to be part of a ships crew for a new naval tanker that was to be commihioned in New Orleans, The USS Nemasket (AOG 10) Saw action in Iwo Jimo & Okinawa and was credited for dwoning a Japanese plane . After the Japanese surrender we took part in the Liberation of China. In April of 1946 I was eligible ot return home to N.Y to recieve my honorable discharge.
