Favorite School Memory | Burt Chojnowski & me 5 yrs to hs, political/debate team until I skipped to ratskeller where politics was fascinating n bored, left USA 70-86 travelling world. With a baby 6 mo. My mind was curious n school so boring. Lived on 5 continent, studied w Dalai Lama, NZ landed, stayed s island on beachfront home I bought, modelled, started retail of world items n vendors me, imported by gov telling me hoops to jump for licensing. Iconic counter culture store, all rock bands came, and unique setup. My forte. Started up Y2k consulting corp. Successful beyond dreams n defeated to fortune 500 consultant who I had provided top tech expertise in my biz, mergers recruiting nationwide, paid $!40 hr, setup depts and trained how to find and steal brightest gifted tech expertise and kept on til cancer at 55 yrs. As Realtor, n ExcDir non profit, consultant, did well n success came every direction, until cancer. True guide to life I had to learn. Money goes, cancer took all my funds, over $890K. I listened to the curiosity in me, n only kid in family to leave school for I am not living my life bored and his was SO boring. Jimi Hendrix, Joplin, Fleetwood Mac days ended as I hitched to Toronto at 18, met Buddhist like minds, commune living w healthy food store, farm outside Toronto growing food etc, and underground The Harbinger made me the 12 member. Cool times. At near 20 took off to Europe, Africa, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Seychelles islands, Bombay India, Delhi, dharmasale, plumbing, pokara Nepal, Katmandu, swinabu monkey temple out side Katmandu , hanged with Tibetan people, always rented homes or huts rather in the cities, no motels, then 6 mo left Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, Bali, Australia, New Zealand stayed for 12+ years. Came home 1986, lied about typing as I was just learning, got job in the telex room at Honeywell. Dove into learning technology, pioneering emailing, Mac tiny computers, marketing tech writer in writing contracts for huge total distributed control systems, automated systems monitoring production in any industry; oil; pulp and paper, mail systems, etc. Learned mainframes. Dos, macdraw, and sat on any test team, as my typing got much better. 1993, landed position at another Honeywell as assistant to Futures Group and it's leader, MIT guru of 50s computers, toga n sandals brilliant mind, group of 200+engineers, Vice President and revered world wide, and we kicked the same, mentored me to lead groups budget wars, represent all Director meetings, and we created new concept, Customer Teaming. Customers worldwide bought large system computers we made, but to implement the systems meant we sides with the buyers to setup, train, and bill, more than computers cost, a profitable and successful strategy. Charlie clingen wasn't political in Honeywell, drove VW rabbit, we went together and shopped for his suits, strict by the book eccentric whose people feared n respected. Arrived before everyone, lunch in office learning Vietnamese or Russian, 45 min n to work. We cried when after French gov bought 1993 n named Honeywell Bull, we cried. A real mentor cultivating my potential n I'm forever grateful. Start-up Y2K began in my dining room. I knew all the concepts, client server replacing mainframes and no one has begun transitioning to new technology or Y2k woul...(read more) |
