I was in the US Navy. I served aboard the USS Harpers Ferry LSD-36. I was deployed for a tour in the Middle East in 1998. I was a Personnelman Third Class. I recieved a Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding service in 2000.

Enlisted 1 week after graduation, & our party at Camp Ben near Driftwood, into the Air Force. Served 1 enlistement then re-enlisted into the Army & stayed until I retired. Deployed many places. My Army unit was deployed to the Persian Gulf War in 1990-1991. Was involved in the ground offensive against the Iraqi Army.

I was a Security Policeman. After Basic Training, and Technical School in San Antonio, I was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota and was a nuclear weapons security specialist. I mainly worked in the Minuteman III Missle Field at the actual missle silos when needed, and did a lot of warhead convoy security escort. After there a couple of years, I received orders to Dyess A.F.B, Texas. There I continued a nuclear security mission with uploaded B-52 & B-1 Bombers and in the Nuclear Weapons Storage Area for the next four years. I was also deployed TDY to Central America during the conflict in El Salvador and surrounding countries. Yes, it was a shooting conflict, to which I can testify! P.S. I also was on the security detail when the Shah of Iran was exiled in 79 and flown to Lackland A.F.B. in San Antonio (didn't get to see him...just put on the perimeter).
