About	Delbert "Del" Wilkes was a 1980 Irmo High graduate who went on to become a University of South Carolina All-American in 1984 for his tremendous achievements in the field of athletics. From there, he went on to become a world-league professional wrestler in the World League Wrestling Federation under the nom de guerre of "The Patriot". Del was a great friend of mine during our days together at Irmo High School, and I am very proud to have known him, and of his achievements. I miss him very much.
