About	James P. Barnes, Jr., 65, passed away on January 3, 2026. James was educated in Chesapeake Public Schools and was a graduate of Indian River High School class of 1979. He continued his education by attending ECPI then later joined the United States Marine Corps. In the vast expanse of eternity, James shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid James farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00am in Steele-Bullock Funeral Home, 3950 Turnpike Road, Portsmouth. Family will receive friends for visitation and viewing on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 4:00pm-6:00pm. Family and friends will assemble at the residence for the processional to the chapel on Saturday at 10:15am.
