Robert Vernon Young, Jr, died peacefully on May 11, 2021. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 23, 1951 to Robert Vernon Young, Sr. and Mildred Carter Young. He was the father of Courtney Young Edelblute(Andrew), Brianne Young Mingin (Ryan), Robert "Robby" Vernon Young, III, and his "bonus daughter", Suzanne Berman. As a beloved grandfather he was "Papa" to Ethan DeGutis, Gabriella Mingin, Jacob Edelblute, William Wydra, Harper Mingin, and Clara Edelblute. He is also survived by his father, Robert Vernon Young, Sr. and his brother, Danny Young, as well as his niece Aimee Young-Pringle and his nephews, Anthony Young and Brad Young. He also truly adored his fur babies, Harley and Mickey.
Robert was a graduate of Indian River High School and, before retirement, was part owner of Young's Auto Upholstery and Glass. It was said that there was no better craftsman in the area at cutting and installing custom glass in vintage automobiles. He was also well-known as an impeccable auto upholsterer. He loved restoring older cars and spending time with his family. He was always happy working in his garage with his "boys". Robert was a devoted father, attending horse shows, dance recitals, theater performances, and sporting events whenever he could. His father, Vernon, put it best: Everyone who ever met him loved him!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Island Dog Rescue, in Robert's name.
