About	It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia "Pat" Lee Jones, who entered the kingdom of Heaven on Friday May 16, 2025, at the age of 59. She was surrounded by her husband, Richard, her brother Johnny, and her two children, Rebecca and David at the time of passing. Pat was born in Roanoke, Virginia on March 17, 1966, she is the daughter of Lena Elizabeth Akers (deceased) and Jackie Lee Akers. She graduated from Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia in 1984. Pat met her husband Richard (Rick) at Roses Department Store in the late 80's. They married in 1990 and have been married for 35 years, and have two children together, David and Rebecca. She has two sisters, Elizabeth Harell, Pam Huss and husband Richard Huss, along with five brothers, James Jones (deceased), David Akers, Jackie Akers, Richard Akers and wife Kimberly Akers, Johnny Akers, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. She enjoyed going to Great Hope Baptist Church where she had many friends who loved her dearly. Patricia enjoyed spending her spare time with her family as well as reading her Bible. Pat was employed by the City of Chesapeake for 32 years. In early 2024, Pat was diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma brain cancer and though she loved her work and co-workers, she was forced to retire from her position as Administrative Assistant II at the City of Chesapeake Public Works Department. She fought bravely through multiple surgeries and treatments until the cancer inevitably took her life. Pat was surrounded by her loving family. A viewing and service will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2025, at 10 am at Great Hope Baptist Church before the burial at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens next to Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in the Great Bridge area. Pat will be laid to rest next to her mother, Lena Elizabeth Akers. In lieu of flowers, the Jones family asks that visitors send donations to Great Hope Baptist Church.
