About	Celeste (Cessy) Dowling Laney, 65, passed away in Summerville, SC on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born in Norfolk, VA, graduate from Indian River High school in 1979. She was the daughter of the late Anne Hood Kelley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, loving family member to many and cherished friend. Celeste in her professional life was a nurse, manager at a large corporation, and bartender, aka counselor to all, but her most important job was being a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, John Laney, her daughters, Tiffany Celeste Barbour, Traci Elizabeth Vellenoweth, Additionally, her grandchildren Riley Zane Mathews, Avery John Barfield, and lifelong friend Barbie Cannon. The memorial service and Celebration of Life for Cessy will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, November 01, 2025, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, 1457 Independence Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA 23455. Phone: 1-757-464-6221. The Celebration of Life will follow the service, at the funeral residence, Chesapeake, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation which supports America's heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
