Bill Gracie was a talented, accomplished drummer. Back in our day, he was tied with Stix Dishman as the best high-school-age drummer in Ann Arbor. And, that was no small thing: We had great music and great musicians in Ann Arbor, in the late 1960s. (I like to think I was in third place, behind Bill and Stix.) I knew Bill back then, and then we reconnected in the 1980s and early 1990s, when I moved back to Ann Arbor.
We had wonderful times. We often played on the same nights, at the Apartment Lounge. Bill could not have been nicer or friendlier.
