On Monday, January 19, 2026, Virginia “Ginny” Cornnell Haskins, age 78, of Apollo Beach, Florida peacefully left us to “walk through the beautiful garden with all of the pretty white flowers.” Ginny will be lovingly remembered for her deep devotion to her family, her unwavering strength, and her remarkable determination.

Born on June 1, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia, Ginny was the beloved daughter of William S. (Glenita) Cornnell and Lillian Hill Cornnell. Ginny dedicated her life to the optical industry, building a remarkable career and thriving business through her talent and work ethic.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John Haskins, with whom she shared a life filled with love and cherished memories. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, William S. Cornnell, Lillian Hill Cornnell, and Glenita Cornnell, as well as her beloved grandson, Johnathon Zuccarini.

Ginny’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her children, Angela (Tracy) Pippenger, Michael (Britni) Haskins, Mark (Carol) Haskins, and Lisa Haskins. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amani, Joshua, Aubrey, Anthony, Luke, and Jaxson, and a great-grandmother to Zachary and Easton, each of whom brought immense happiness to her life.

She is also survived by her siblings, William S. (Cindy) Cornell Jr., Nancy Titus, and Charlotte Shrewsbury, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.

From the sunny beach shores of Florida to the peaceful mountains of Maryland, Ginny found beauty wherever she was and joy in every place she called home. Finding peace outdoors, tending to her plants and flowers and taking pride in her neatly pruned yard. Ginny delighted in watching the wildlife that seemed just as fond of her—petting the deer and spending her days observing a mama bear and her cubs as they passed through. Ginny wasn’t shy about having a little fun, dancing in the garage in her apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur, bringing laughter and smiles to those lucky enough to witness it.

Ginny’s life was one of love, resilience, humor, and grace. Her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her, just like the gardens she so lovingly tended. She will always be our “Ray of Sunshine”.

A celebration of Ginny’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and celebrate the joy and love she brought to all who knew her. Details will be shared with those who wish to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Moffitt Cancer Center in Virginia’s honor.
