Enlisted on my 18th birthday. Basic in Bainbridge, MD. Machinists Mate A School, Gt. Lakes, Ill., Served aboard U.S.S. Princeton CVS-37 from November 1952 until February 1957. Changed rating from Machinists Mate 2nd to Hospital Corpsman 2nd and went to Medical B School at Portsmouth, Va. Stationed at U.S. Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass., from September 1957 until mid 1959. Left active duty and entered Advanced Pay Program in Norfolk, Va and was promoted to Aviation Electronics Technician Chief and remained in Reserves until April of 1994 at which time I was Honorably Discharged and retired.

Entered USN on my 18th birthday, 1 April 1952. Boot Camp at Bainbridge, MD. Attended Machinists Mate school in Gt. Lakes and in November of 1952 was assigned to the USS Princeton (CVS-37) homeported in San Diego, CA. Made several Far East tours to support combat activities in Korea. Homeported at Yokosuka, Japan. While there, ran into Freddy Lorenz and Manley Coons. Quite a surprise. Ship also visited Hong Kong numerous times as well as Manila, Taiwan, Formosa, Bangkok and Okinawa. Changed my rating from Machinists Mate 2 to Hospital Corpsman 2 in 1956 and in February of 1957 left the Princeton and attended Advanced Hospital Corps School in Portsmouth, VA and upon graduation was assigned to the U.S. Naval Hospita in Chelsea, MA. where I worked in the Eye Clinic and Surgery until my discharge in March of 1959. At that point I went to the University of Hartford and studied Electronic Engineering Technology (Communications Major)and graduated in April of 1962. I remained in the reserves and later got into the Advanced Pay Program where I was changed over to an Aviation Electronics Technician Chief and remained there until my discharge in April of 1994.

Oct '68 - Apr '70. Dietician with 852nd Medical group, Castle AFB, CA. Promoted to E-3 and E-4.

Apr '70 - Aug '70. Retrained into weather (meteorological) services field @ Chanute AFB, IL.

Sep '70- Jul '71. Provided weather support for Tactical Air Command @ McDill AFB, FL.

Aug '71 - Feb '72. Served as part of combat weather team #1 at Phu Loi Army Installation, Vietnam providing weather support for Army aircraft reconnaisance operations in and around the Iron Triangle. Promoted to E-5.

Sep '72. Re-enlisted at Phu Loi, Vietnam. Oath of re-enlistment administered by General William Best, commander of Air Weather Service.

Feb '72-May '72. Moved to Long Bihn Army Installation Vietnam to provide daily weather support for the Commanding General of Army operations in Vietnam.

Jun '72-Jul '73. Provided weather support to Strategic Air Command operations at Westover AFB, MA.

Aug '73 - Sep '75. Provided meteorlogical services to Strategic Airlift Command at Plattsburgh AFB, NY.

Sep '75. Honorably discharged from active duty.

Rated by Veterans Administration as a disabled veteran due to service connected physical ailments.
