About	Arlene J. "Sue" Heward, age 79 of Crown Point, formerly of Gary, passed away February 16, 2018. She graduated in 1956 from her beloved Horace Mann School. Arlene graduated from Indiana University and was a loyal Hoosier who loved all sports. From IU she embarked upon her career in teaching and retired after 35 years of service in support of girls' athletics at her alma mater, Gary Horace Mann. After retirement she enjoyed photography and became self- taught in computer programming, computer applications, and computer management and did computer consulting work for the Lake County Sheriff's work release program at the Kimbrough Center in Crown Point. Over the years Sue was totally devoted to all of her pets, and most recently her beloved best friend "Zipper". She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Estelle Heward; brother, Gerald Burton Heward; sister, Judith Ann Lipsky. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jill Heward; brother-in-law, Paul Lipsky; cousin, Patricia Zapinski and her family, several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear neighbors and former colleagues and many students who over the years became loyal friends and the Katz family. Her funeral service will take place Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 10:45 a.m. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Visitation Saturday from 9:45 till the time of service at Burns. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
