About	Thomas R. Reid, age 71, of Lake Station, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2017, with his family by his side. Tom was born and raised in Gary and attended Horace Mann High School, Class of 64. He worked at the Budd Stamping Plant until it shut down in the 80's. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: William (Penni) Reid, Susan (Kevin) Tully, Kelly Reid, Michael (Kelly) Reid, Chad Harris, and Tiffanie (Ian Schmutte) Reid; along with many cousins, great- nieces, and great-nephews. He was especially close to and shared many wonderful and fun times with his cousin, Virginia Mitckess, and lifelong friends, Dickie Churchill and Wes Rambo; his friends from Ben's, and his loyal companion, Junior the Cat. He is preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Goldie Reid; his brother, William "CB Bill" Reid; and his niece, Sandra Spenner. Tom had a hearty laugh and a great smile. He was quick with a joke or a story to leave you giggling. Tom was passionate about many things: His Family and Friends, The Beach, 50/60's Rock and Roll Music, playing the guitar (he was quite the performer in his younger years), Hot Rod/Classic Cars (his favorites were Studebaker, Hudson, and a Baby Blue Kaiser Deluxe), ALL the cars shows on the Velocity channel and American Pickers. Tom was passionate about history. He loved to read mysteries and he wrote many novels, short stories, and poems. He would encourage everyone to "chase your dream and be creative". Tom will be missed by all who loved him.
