About	John ‘Brian’ Evans, 76, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home in Pharr, Texas. Brian was a former resident of Merrillville, Indiana. Brian was born on July 19, 1941 to Lewis and Beryl (Rees) Evans in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from Horace Mann High school in 1960. Brian worked for Old Republic Insurance, in Chicago, for over 30 years until his retirement in 1996. He then was the proprietor of Old Mill Pizzeria, in Merrillville, until 2005. Brian was also a Free Mason. His favorite hobbies were watching tv, enjoying good food, and fishing with his family. In 2005, Brian started a new chapter of his life traveling around the country in his motor home and working for Panther transports. During this time, he settled in Pharr, Texas. He met his wife, Maria "Cristi" Evans (Viera), in 2007 and married in 2008. Brian spent his last years surrounded by friends and in the loving care of Cristi. Brian is survived by his wife Cristi; along with 3 children all of Valparaiso, Indiana; Amie (Ben) Luna, Brad (Stanna) Evans, and Megan (Tom Olson) Evans Doke; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Luna, Christian Luna, Abigail Evans, Karina Evans, Madelyn Evans, and Alaina Doke; one brother, David (Pat) Evans of Oscoda, Michigan; and nieces, cousins, and other relatives.
