About	David Ridgely, age 67 of Hebron, passed away on August 29, 2017. David was born, December 3, 1949 in Gary, IN to parents William and Alice (Huber) Ridgely. David grew up on the West Side of Gary. He graduated from Horace Mann High School where he was active in the Drama Department and played football. As a young adult, he worked at the family business, Hobart Sports, with his father and brother Mike. He later worked at the state prison in Michigan City as a security guard. After a decade at the prison, David went on to serve as bailiff for Nicholas J. Schiralli, Judge of Lake County Superior Court. Later, he worked for Franciscan Health in Crown Point. David was a lifelong student of history. He was an avid reader who amassed a large collection of first edition books on the Civil War, World Wars I and II. His interest in nature and birding led him to many state parks and nature preserves. He was a whittler, marksman, gardener, coin collector and loving pet owner for over 40 years. Of particular interest to David was Wolf Park, an educational and research facility dedicated to the conservation of wolves, in Battle Ground, IN. He was preceded in death by brother, Michael Dale Bobele. He is survived by brother, Robert Ridgely of Chicago, IL, sister, Susan Cohen of Gary, IN, and sister, Martha Faulkner of Hopskinsville, KY. He is also survived by two aunts, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
