About Robert D. Renslow "Rat", age 60 of Hobart, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011.

He was born in Gary, survived by Mary Hack, significant other of 26 years; two sons, Walter and Jason (Jessica) Hack; three grandchildren, Ethan Hack, Lexianna and Kaden Tailford; brothers and sisters: Al (Karen) Renslow, Debbie (Max) Zimmerman, Bev (Jerry) Ray, Patty Renslow, Sandy Renslow, Darlene (Aaron) Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, best long-time friend, James (Barb) Kendig and business partner and friend Willie Levak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Jane Renslow, brother Thomas Renslow, and nephew Trenton Ray.

He retired from the E. J. & E. Railroad after 31 years of service. He was President and Local Chairman for the United Transportation Union, Local 1186, a board member for Financial Trax Credit Union, and a member of the Sons of American Legion 279. He was a 1969 graduate of Horace Mann High School where he excelled in football and wrestling and achieved State runner-up status in wrestling at 120 lbs and was selected all-city guard in football. He attended Purdue University on a wrestling scholarship. Bob was part owner of the Flamingo Restaurant in Miller. He was a great life partner, father and grandfather. He unselfishly touched many lives and was always excited to help anybody who needed him.
