About	Norman D. Smith, age 81, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 1, 1935 in Crown Point. Norman served in the US Army and worked in the metallurgical lab at US Steel until his retirement. He was a member of the LaPorte Chapter of the PNA and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. Norman will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Norman is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet (nee Albright); 3 children, Ralph (Tiffany) Smith of AZ, Renee Smith, Hobart, and Brad (Andrea) Smith, DeMotte; 13 grandchildren, Brad, Jr., Derick, Ryan, Sheldon, Logan, Trevor, Lexi, Olivia, Wyatt, Tyler, Zoe, Kali, and Demi; brother, Wayne (Rosemary) Smith, AZ; sister, Shirley Maruhnick, Merrillville; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Smith and mother, Emma Muzio; brother, Carroll Smith.
