About	Margaret T. McEwan, 94, passed away November 27, 2014 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 1 at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Gary, IN where she grew up. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Margaret and her twin, Helen, were born May 15, 1920 in Crafton, PA to William and Margaret McEwan. She graduated from Horace Mann High School and received her master's in social work from the University of Indiana. Margaret was Executive Director of Girl Scout councils in Des Moines, IA, Galesburg, IL and Freeport, IL and also served as District Director in St. Louis, MO. After Girl Scouts she continued working as a social worker in child and family services. Margaret was a longtime member of Central Presbyterian Church since 1953, the Delta Guild-Presbyterian Women, De Nova Order of the Eastern Star, Professional Women's League, Moingona Girl Scout Council, National Association of Social Workers, University of Indiana Alumni-Iowa Chapter, Scottish Heritage Society and Women's Club, . She also played in the Des Moines Symphony as a violinist. Margaret is survived by her nieces, Cheryl (Darell) Bidstrup of Salmon, ID and Katherine (Robert) Martin of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Guthrie McEwan and twin sister, Helen Ross McEwan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Girl Scouts of Iowa or Central Presbyterian Church.
