John is survived by his wife, Rita (Harvey) Szabo of Chesterton, IN; children: Cynthia (Richard) Mills of Kouts, IN, Louis (Donna) Szabo of Melbourne, FL, Janis (Russell) Rose of Manitou Springs, CO and Douglas (Angela) Szabo of Toledo, OH; grandchildren: Jordyn and Brendan Szabo, and Oliver and Fedilu Rose. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Szabo; son, Michael Szabo; parents: John and Estella Szabo; sisters: Rosemary and Shirley; and brothers: Walter and Joe. John graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, IN and from Ball State University. He married Lois Szabo, who preceded him in death. John held executive positions with various corporations throughout his career.
