About	Charmaine Brown of Portage, IN, passed peacefully from this life on the afternoon of January 19th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers. Charmaine was born on June 1, 1959 in Gary, IN to the late Othie Lee and Ruby Lee (Lenoir) Freeny. Charmaine graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1977. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana to further her education. She also attended Commonwealth College to become a medical assistant. She was employed by Methodist Hospital, Prompt Medical, Planned Parenthood and Home Health Care before choosing to be a stay at home mom to care for the children she adored. Charmaine married her high school sweetheart, and love of her life for forty years, Marvin Brown. To their union, four children were born: Marvin, Jr., Marissa, Marxxus, and Mareese. Charmaine accepted Christ at an early age at New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church; she later attended Trinity Baptist Church, Holy Bethel Baptist Church, and then Glorified Temple Church of God in Christ. Charmaine was preceded in death by one brother, Othie L. Freeny, Jr.; and nephew. Robert Leon, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory but mourn her death, husband, Marvin Brown; three sons, Marvin Brown, Jr., Marxxus Brown and Mareese Brown; one daughter, Marissa Brown; six grandchildren, Marvin Brown III, LaTroy Brown, MarShaun Brown, Emijah Brown, Mariyah and Jeremiah Jones; one brother, Jeffery A. Freeny; two sisters, Audrey "Penny" Johnson and Renee Freeny; uncles, aunt, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family members.
