About Michael Linoski, age 75, passed away on July 28, 2013.
Michael served two years in U.S. Army. He served 18 months in England and Germany in 1956, in 1957, and 1958. Preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth (Rita) Linoski. Survived by two sisters: Cynthia (Roland) Auger and Diane (Ralph) Suski; and three nephews and two nieces. Preceded in death by his longtime loving companion, Carol Gergely, who passed away in 2002. Survived by her loving children: Walter (Anni) Gergely, Ginger (Tim) Murphy, Lisa (Brian) Doughman, Kristin Halloran, Jill (John) Kreis, and Carol's 15 loving grandchildren.
Carol's children loved Michael and always treated him as a member of their family. They gave birthday parties for him. In 2003 and 2008, he went with them to the Florida Keys for a one week vacation, which all enjoyed. He was always invited to all their family parties. He loved them dearly as they dearly loved him. And gives a special thank you to Lisa Doughman. Lisa did the driving and gave help and moral support during Michael's many surgeries and overnight stays at the Cath Lab in Munster Community Hospital in Munster, IN.
He loved to travel with Carol, visiting Canada, Florida, and Las Vegas many times. For many years they drove all over the Midwest to shop at antique malls and visit points of local interest. They saw Frank Sinatra perform five times, which they enjoyed. They loved flying in small airplanes and taking glider flights. Also loved taking boat rides on the Mississippi River. In 2009, he enjoyed a vacation in Ireland. In January 2010, he enjoyed a vacation with Brian and Lisa Doughman in Costa Rica.
Michael retired from LTV Steel, at age 58, in 1996. In 2001, he became a volunteer at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. He worked at the front desk area in the main entrance, which he really enjoyed for 12 years. He urges all seniors to volunteer somewhere, you will enjoy as he did. He tried to treat others as he wanted to be treated, which he admitted was sometimes hard to do.
