About	Elizabeth J. "Betty" Helmink, age 95 of Portage, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and her husband and children on the morning of June2, 2013. Elizabeth was born January 18, 1918 in Gary, IN and was the daughter of Walter and Coral Sawyer. She graduated from Horace Mann High School Class of 1936. She went on to marry Eugene A. Helmink on June 14, 1940 and he preceded in death in November, 1977. She was a loving mother to Charles A. Helmink, Carol J Major and Dean A Helmink, all who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were one sister, Jean W. McLean, great granddaughter Beth Ann Major and great-great grandson Zachary J. Lamprecht. She enjoyed being a homemaker and also formerly employed by Dr. Adolph Goldstone for a number of years. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ where she was a member of “The Sew and Sews” quilting circle and was active in many other church activities. She was also a lifelong and loyal Chicago Cubs fan. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kathryn Lewis, James D. (Kris) Major, Shannon (Eddie) Loza, Jennifer (Joe) Bugajski, Charles Helmink, Dean Helmink and son-in-law James L Major; great grandchildren Stephanie (Derek) Lamprecht, Angela (Chris Flagg) Lewis, Amanda and Kristin Lewis, Christina and Jamie Major, Samantha and Jessica Loza, Rachel Major, Emma and Noah Bugajski, Gavin Helmink, Elise and Abby Helmink; great great grandchildren Christopher, Quentin and Jacob Lamprecht. Also many cousins and friends. Elizabeth lived a long and fulfilling life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed and always loved.
