About	Dennis Roy Springfield Age 64, of Gary, Indiana passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sadie Springfield. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Sekou Springfield of Newark, Delaware, Omar Springfield of Maplewood, New Jersey; and their mother, Rebecca Springfield of Maplewood, New Jersey; one granddaughter, Trinity Noelle; four sisters all of Gary, Ella Taylor, Brenda Hunter (Edmond), Beverly Turner, Brigitte Springfield; four brothers all of Gary, Yahya Rasheed (Sandra), Kevin Springfield (Patricia), Jeffrey Springfield (Juanita) and Wendell Springfield; five aunts, Mary Brewer (Denon) of Gary, Mary Theus of Merrillville, Bessie Theus of Chicago, Illinois, Lillian Springfield and Charlene Gill of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two uncles, Rev. Lloyd Springfield and Rev. Floyd Springfield of Jackson, Tennessee; close friends, James Tuggle and Ali Rashad of Gary, and Nantambu Ahota of West Palm Beach, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dennis was a graduate of Horace Mann High School class of 1966 and was an outstanding basketball player. He attended Lane College and received a Bachelor's Degree from Calumet College. Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Korea. He was a retired employee of the Division of Family Services (Child Protective Service Department) and later worked for The Villages.
