About	Mark Allen Lawrence, age 71, died on July 22, 2011, at his home in McLean, Virginia. Mark was a psychiatrist who had lived and practiced in the DC area since 1969. He grew up in Gary, Indiana. He attended Amherst College and Harvard Medical School on academic scholarships and trained at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center. Colleagues describe Mark as a gifted psychiatrist and mentor to hundreds of therapists. Up until his death, he continued to teach classes about imagery and ego-state therapy. In 2005, he was diagnosed and cured of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and returned to vigorous semi-retirement. In the years before his death, he continued to play tennis, snow ski, water ski, and wakeboard. He leaves behind his loving wife Karen, daughter Katherine (Kathy), son-in-law Darryl Weber, and a two-year-old grandson Julian.
