About	Noal Highlands Portage Noal Highlands, age 70, of Portage, IN, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2004 at 2:01 AM at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, IN. Born in Valparaiso, IN on September 3, 1933 to the late Frank M. and Freda Eschenbach Kickels. Married August 31, 1951 in Crown Point, IN to Hy Highlands who survives in Portage, IN. Also survived by son David (Diane) Highlands of Portage, IN; daughter Carol (Jim) Langendorfer of Dunwoody, GA; grandchildren: Bob and Tim Langendorfer of GA, Tonia Kitchel of Portage and Colin and Patrick Highlands of Portage; great grandchild Emma Grace Kitchel. Also preceded in death by sister Patricia R. Kickels. Mrs. Highlands was a lifelong area resident. Owner of Portage's Dairy Queens. Former member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Gary, IN; a member of the Portage Chamber of Commerce, a graduate of Horace Mann High School, class of 1951; she was a former state champion debater in high school; a Portage Township Republican Precinct Committeewoman and had also served as the Portage Township Republican Township Chair. Mrs. Highlands also served as First District Vice Chairwoman of the Indiana State Republican Committee. Memorials may be made to Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL.
