About	James "Whitey" M. Sefton, age 69, formerly of Gary and Merrillville, Lakes of the Four Seasons resident for 30 years, passed away on Horton V.N.A. Hospice in Valparaiso, IN on Saturday, September 17, 2005. He was a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Merrillville, an alumnus of Horace Mann High School, veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict, member of the Gary Sportsman Club, star running back for the Horace Mann Horsemen for four years, second place State winner of the 440 in track, All Gary Conference Selectee. His passions were pro-football, patriotism, gardening, culinary chefing and people of all persuasions. Preceded in death by parents: Thomas and Hilda Sefton. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Janet (nee Sudroff) Sefton of Lakes of the Four Seasons; one son, James C. Sefton of Lakes of the Four Seasons; two daughters: Kimberly (Dan) Hallman of Valparaiso and Sherry (Mike) Barnes of Valparaiso; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mary Jane (Larry) Kerns of Brooksville, FL; five nieces; three nephews; three sisters-in-law, Jo-Ann (Kent) Wilden of Crown Point, Judy Sudroff of Merrillville and Claire (Jeffrey) Sudroff of Hobart; many, many relatives and friends; special friends: Terry and Mary Beth Burns.
