About	Born March 17, 1936, a lifelong Gary resident, Patrick was a three-time state champion swimmer at Horace Mann and was recently inducted into the Indiana State High School Swimming Hall of Fame. He was captain of the 1958-1959 University of Iowa Swim Team. Also an avid runner, completing 60 marathons, 12 of them, the Boston Marathon, seven times past-president and current board member of the Calumet Striders. Patrick started as a recreational jogger and graduated to road races and marathons for a period of over 25 years. He was most proud of the many friendships he established throughout his running career. He was retired from Midwest Steel. Patrick is survived by his daughter, Lori (Cliff) Rosenberg; sisters: Judy (Hib) Staton, Jane (Jack) Pettinger; nieces: Karen Messler, Susan (Tim) Bailey and Kathleen Pettinger; nephews: Mike (Renee) Messler, Tim (Sherri) Staton, Jerry (Nancy) Pettinger, John (Bridget) Pettinger and Jim (Sari) Pettinger; many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving parents: Gerald and Tad Rhodes; sister: Mary (Chuck) Messler; and nephew, Scott Staton.
