About	Roy Dakich, J.D., age 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Born in Gary, IN to the late Petar and Mary (Drobac) Dakich, he led a very energetic and successful life. After earning a Law Degree from Valparaiso University, he practiced law in Lake County for over 50 years. During his career, Roy was truly dedicated to the judicial system and his many clients. He served as a Lake County Probate Judge, and was also past legal counsel of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, where he was an active member since his youth. He was a longtime member of the Indiana Bar Association. Roy graduated from Horace Mann High School, Class of 1949, and as senior team captain, he led the 'Horsemen' basketball team to a Sectional championship. As a result, Roy was granted a scholarship to Idaho State University, where he earned a Bachelors degree, and played a key role as team captain in leading the basketball squad to a pair NCAA tournament bids. Prior to furthering his education, he served in the U.S. Army. He was also a Gold Card member of the Gary Sportsmen Club. Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Barbara Dakich (nee Mathews); two children: Roy Dakich of Hawaii and Allison Dakich, of Indianapolis; two brothers: Tom (Bobbie) Dakich and Nick (Anna) Dakich; also, may nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear lifelong family friends.
