About William B. Davis of Fishers, formerly of Crown Point, passed away peacefully Friday, October 26, 2018.

Bill graduated from Horace Mann in 1959 and attended Wabash College, running cross country. He transferred to IU and graduated in 1964, then earned a J.D. from IU School of Law, Bloomington, in 1967. In 1968 he joined the firm of Hodges and Davis in Gary (now located in Merrillville) and worked there until 2001. He was a past board member and board president for the Methodist Hospital in Gary, member and past president of the University Club, past city attorney for Crown Point, member of the Jaycees and Lake County Parks board, founding member of the Rotary Club of Big Sky, Montana and member of the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce. He had also served on the board for the Valpo School of Nursing.

He loved to sail, ski, shoot skeet, play golf, and was a master swimmer, having competed in the White River State Games. He also previously co-owned Spot-Not car washes in northwest Indiana.

Born November 18, 1941 in Gary, IN, he was the son of Hershel B. Davis and Dorothy Smith Davis. He married Linda Kay Bruington July 11, 1970 in Griffith. She survives. Surviving family includes: wife, Linda Davis of Fishers; daughter, Catherine "Kat" Burkhart (Craig) of Darlington; son, Geoff Davis (Amy) of Carmel; sister, Martha Hirsch of Oregon; grandson, Cyrus Burkhart; two granddaughters, Hadley and Sydney Davis; many nephews, nieces, and friends as well as his dog, Huntley. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dr. Jane Driver.
