About Me | We enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren. Our grandchildren keep us young. I have enjoyed helping with class reunions, Memory Books, and the Class of 1965 Books. I am proud to be a part of the original "Baby Boomer" generation and enjoyed growing up and raising my family in Hobart. I am a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, Hobart Historical Society, Fundraising committee member and Board member for HHS Alumni Assoc., April, 2012, Northwest Indiana Patriots, Maria Reiner Senior Center, and a Red Hat Ladies Group. We have two little grandsons, Blake and Alec, who are 9 and 6. They are absolutely the joys and loves of my life. Grandparenting is the ultimate reward of parenting. My grandsons still like Grandma singing silly songs to them and we have such fun laughing and acting goofy. Favorite Movie Channels: Hallmark, Lifetime Movie Retirement: It has been every bit as wonderful, fun and exciting as I expected. After working for 36 years, it is a right of passage to retire and collect social security and a pension. November 30th, 2010, Royce retired with me. In 2012, we took a trip to Florida and spent 5 weeks visiting friends and family. This was what I call Royce's "Celebration of Life" trip after suffering a stroke in 2010. When we returned from Florida, we bought a new camper and plan to travel and see the country. In 2013, we upgraded to a travel trailer and hope to have many Happy Trails. We look forward to our Golden Years and doing many things that we have not had time to do. Our grandchildren love to go camping with us. We are hoping God will bless us with good health. I think many classmates of the Hobart Class of 1965 will agree with me that we were a great class with many talents and much potential. As the first and original Baby Boomers, we continue to set new goals for ourselves even in our Golden Years. We are a close knit class with high standards and achievements and we actually enjoy each other. I enjoy listening to Pandora Radio. My favorite song is Friends by Michael W. Smith. My favorite Bible verse is: Isaiah 58:8. I have had many interesting jobs in my career. I worked as a Title Clerk, Data Entry Operator, Stenographer, Office Manager, Program Secretary, Financial Assistant, Human Resource Assistant, and Administrative Assistant. Not too many people know that I interviewed in Merrillville to work for the FBI. I sat in a room interviewing with 3 FBI agents, and I took a typing test and scored in the top 3. It felt ominous walking through a metal detector where there was a picture of Janet Reno on the wall. They were interested in hiring only me. I turned the job down to be a Human Resource Assistant. I enjoyed working in a county HIV Counseling & Testing program. I kept confidential records for 5 clinic sites in Lake County....(read more) |
