Class of 1976
I would have gone to Hinckley, but I moved to Greeley, Co, I knew Kimberly Horton, we were neighbors, I was the boy who lived on Vaughn Street. When she was younger we played together in my 'sand box', more a clay box. We would make roads, rubbing the clay with a spoon the burnish it until it turned as dark as tar. Sometimes we would walk home from East Middle School together. I was very shy then, she took the initiative to ask. I miss her, she died in the Big Thompson Flood of July 31, 1976. She was at the girl scout camp, I was fishing in the Thompson that evening. My dad yelled out to me to get out, at first I couldn't hear, but he yelled out again to get out "a flood warning', I released the trout I just caught, making my way from the island miles above Drake, I dillydallied disappointed. We got out of the canyon about 9:10 pm, about the time Drake got hit with a 20 foot wall of water. The next day I got up early, with some friends we arrived at Fort Medina. We saw an ambulance and someone being carried in a body bag. Just yesterday, I found out that this is where they found her body. It hurts allot, to miss out. A few days later my mother informed me of her death. I went into shock. She graduated 1976
I am writing a book on my life. I would like to have pictures of her. I would also like to get in touch with her parents.
Thanks, Tim Schuette
