William Terry Henderson, 67, of Wake Village, Texas, died Friday October 1, 2010, in a local hospital. Mr. Henderson was born January 24th, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School, where he was student body president, and later graduated from Drury University in 1965. He was employed with St. John's Hospital in Human Resources and was the Community Development Coordinator for Wal-mart in Texarkana, Texas. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Wilbur Award for Outstanding Community Service and the Sam Walton Hero of Excellence Award. Mr. Henderson was also an avid fan of the Texas High School Tigers, attending nearly every game. Survivors include his wife, Deanna; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Annette Henderson, of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Drew Eckman, of Dallas; three grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Henderson and Alexis Eckman; mother-in-law, Retha Doyle; brother-in-law, Tom Doyle; and a number of other relatives.
A celebration of Mr. Henderson's life will be held in the Cabe Center in First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas, from 6-8p.m., on October 5th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to the SPCA of Texas or the Henderson Unit of the Boys and Girls Club in Springfield, Missouri.
