Ray L. Eslick, 56, Springfield died at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 1998 in his home. Ray was born March 11, 1942, in Springfield to the late William David and Florence Eva Hall Eslick. He grew up in Springfield and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He returned to Springfield in 1978. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. Ray is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Eslick, of the home; a son and his wife, Dobie Ray and Karen Eslick, Sacramento, Calif.; a step-daughter and her husband, Susan Renee and Vernon Kriek, Orlando, Fla.,; two brothers and their wives Kay George and Judi Eslick and David J. and Nancy Eslick, all of Springfield; a sister, Dorothy Sue Fowler, Dallas Texas; two grandchildren, Megan and Ashley; three step-grandchildren, John Matt, and Andrew Kriek; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services with full Military Honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 1998 in Eastlawn Cemetery with Dr. T. T. Crabtree officiating under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. [Spfd News Leader dated April 26, 1998; SSDI]
