| Favorite School Memory | The relations I had with the men I worked with in my family’s iron foundry and with the men who both inspired and helped me to learn to fly airplanes. -- Because I went to St. Michaels to avoid the autocratic Mr. Clay's teaching of American Literature I got to have Darrell Goode who blew the hinges off my doors with his introduction of Walt Whitman into my life. As an aside, Whitman wrote a poem about an iron foundry. He nailed it dead on; I could feel DF (Decker Foundry), see DF inside, smell DF and know the working men of DF as I read that poem. WW is our American Poet. Thank You Darrell Goode who became a close friend of my own son Tom when he was a High School Boy at Booker T. Washington in Tulsa. -- Our Henryetta Internet was the Magazine Rack at the Post Office Drug Store and the News Paper Rack at that interesting newsstand store / smoke shop between 4th and 3rd on the North side of Main.
