About Chester “Chuck” Huddleston, 68, passed away on May 11, 2026. Born on May 10, 1958 to Bill
and Shirley Huddleston, he was a lifelong resident of Hardee County. Chuck graduated from
Hardee Senior High in 1976. He worked as an electrician for the phosphate mines, worked a
time with Lance Corporation, then retired from Avon Park Air Force Range where he was an
electrician.
Chuck loved fishing, hunting, woodwork, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed caring for his
cows and pet donkey, Jinny. He loved visiting with people and never met a stranger; and he
loved a good plate of southern cooking. He became ill with kidney failure a few years ago, but
had continued to live life to the fullest following a kidney transplant. He recently had a setback,
but is no longer suffering and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kay
Huddleston, of Wauchula, FL; son Chet Huddleston (Callie) of Zolfo Springs, FL; brother Ed
Huddleston (Christina) of Wauchula, FL; stepchildren Scott Nicholson, Lisa Newman (Wayne) of
Wauchula, FL, Clay Nicholson (Nicole) of Zolfo Springs, FL; grandchildren Lily and Bristol
Huddleston, Justin (Sierra), Jessica, and Jaidyn Newman, Savannah Cobb (Cameron), Colton, and
Jaycie Nicholson, Tara and Clara Nicholson; Tyson Pace and Jillian Keen; great-grandchildren
Jonah Cobb, Avery, Hudson, and Charlie Newman; niece Laura Jones; nephew Jason Howard
(Shanna); a very special aunt and uncle Pauline and Ernest Hendrickson; and many uncles,
aunts, and cousins.
